چکیده
Nowadays, huge amounts of refractory materials are generated around the world. The majority them lack valorization methods. This study analyzes ability a doloma and two magnesia spent wastes as soil stabilizers on their own, well when combined with Ground-Granulated Blast Furnace Slags (GGBS). These showed limited for soil’s plasticity modification from index 15.6 to minimum 12.7. high pH additives increased 7.88 values in range 10.94–11.25 before 28 days, allowing development pozzolanic reactions. Unconfined compressive strength (UCS) along curing time, reaching maximum value 5.68 MPa after 90 days. Based UCS, optimum GGBS ratios oscillate between 30:70 50:50. UCS soaking samples reduced unsoaked results 68.70% 94.41%. binders considered low effect against swelling delayed expansive effects because MgO hydration. Finally, X Ray Diffraction (XRD) tests that stabilization only slightly modified combinations mineralogy formation Magnesium Silicate Hydrate (MSH) gels.

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
1. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) is a by product of the steel industry. Blast furnace slag is defined as “the non-metallic product consisting essentially of calcium silicates and other bases that is developed in a molten condition simultaneously with iron in a blast furnace.” [1] In the production of iron, blast furnaces are loaded with iron o...
متن کاملSoil Stabilisation Using Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
Stabilisation is a broad sense for the various methods employed and modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance and used for a variety of engineering works. In today‟s day soil stabilisation is the major problem for civil engineers, either for construction of road and also for increasing the strength or stability of soil and reduces the construction cost. In this t...
متن کاملRemoval of Hexavalent Chromium in Portland Cement Using Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag Powder
Using ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) under different alkaline conditions, we studied the mechanisms and extents of Cr(VI) reduction and sorption and compared them to reactions with Portland cement (PC). We also investigated the effects of mixing PC/GGBS ratios on Cr(VI) dissolution after carbonating the substrates. We observed a complete sorption and reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) ...

The major decision in construction process involves the selection of suitable site with best soil conditions, as structure resides in the soil. Most problematic soils like expansive soils hardly proved to be the best engineering subgrade profile for pavement constructions. Thus, this has undeniably led to the soil improvement options accompanying the reduction in resource depletion and solid wa...
متن کاملProperties of Cement Pastes Doped with Very High Amounts of Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag
In the current work, the properties of cement pastes doped with high amounts of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (HVS) were investigated. Portland cement (PC) was substituted with ground granulated blast-furnace slag (donated as slag) at very high amounts of 85%, 90%, 95% and 100%, by weight. PC paste without any content of slag was used as a reference. Some fresh and hardened properties su...
